Introducing the Modern Alpine 2025 Prefab
by Michael Romanowicz
·
Hey, it's Mike, the founder of DEN.
Five years ago, I started this company after building my own cabin in the woods, quickly realizing how challenging it is to build a home—let alone a cool one. For those of you who have been following DEN throughout the years, you've seen various experiments and innovations that we've brought to market to make it easier to build a home or cabin in the United States.
You may remember us launching a small-scale A-frame prefab product in the early days of DEN. At about 160 ft², we designed and fabricated this A-frame from the ground up and sold nearly 40 of them throughout the United States. On two other occasions, we helped hospitality developers launch DEN prefab products at scale—we shipped 10 A-frame cabins (fully prefabricated) resulting in 20,000 ft² of building envelope to a fly fishing resort in Idaho, and six small-scale A-frames to a really cool hotel in Maine.
We learned so much in designing, fabricating, and supporting these projects, and most importantly, finding the right partners across manufacturing, supply, and logistics. Now, five years into the DEN journey, we're happy to announce the launch of a new prefab product coinciding with the tremendous engagement we're seeing for our latest design: the Modern Alpine 2025.
What Makes DEN's Prefab Different
Prefab is not a new concept in the homebuilding market, but anything we do here at DEN carries with it a bit of innovation to make it easier for you and to stand out from the crowd. Our prefab panelized system is not your traditional SIP (Structural Insulated Panel)—it's made of steel and closed-cell foam that will not degrade over time and carries more structural rigidity than your average panel system.
We've taken care to ensure that our building shell aligns exactly to the geometry of our design. We've coordinated a window and door package that harmonizes perfectly with the design, and we've included interior loft framing elements so that everything integrates quickly and cleverly.
With DEN's prefab package—provided that you have the foundation already set—you'll be able to erect this building with a small team and a lightweight crane in approximately 5 to 10 days. It's this type of process acceleration that we're so excited about: a weatherproof, airtight building in just 5 to 10 days.
How It Works
This isn't just another house plan. This is DEN's first pre-fabricated panelized cabin, delivering a structural shell that makes building easier, faster, and more accessible. Here's what that means: instead of cutting every piece of wood on-site, waiting on materials, and dealing with massive delays, you get precision-cut wall panels, pre-framed openings, and everything ready to go. It's like the IKEA version of building—only this is a high-quality structure designed to last a lifetime.
These panels arrive at your site labeled, pre-cut, and ready to assemble—meaning fewer headaches, fewer unexpected costs, and a faster build timeline. You or your builder can take it from delivery to dried-in in just a few days.
The Prefab Package includes premium steel and closed cell foam panels that surpass standard SIPs with superior insulation performance exceeding all local codes. You'll receive fully engineered and stamped plans documenting this precision-designed Modern Alpine home, along with a complete exterior window and door package harmonized to the building's exact geometry. The package also provides all necessary interior doors, structural components for the signature alpine loft space, and a precision-fabricated panelized wall and roofing system that delivers on the stunning renderings. Shipping is included to any location in the lower 48 United States.
Three Simple Steps to Your Modern Alpine
So, how do you actually get your own Modern Alpine 2025? Let me break it down—it's a simple, three-step process:
1. Reserve Your Spot

2. Preconstruction (4–6 Weeks)
Next, you'll work with our team to finalize the details—your site plan, foundation requirements, and any location-specific adjustments. We'll also guide you through permitting so you're set up for success.
3. Fabrication & Delivery (8–10 Weeks)
Once your final payment is in, we get to work. Your pre-fab panels are precision-built in our climate-controlled facility, then shipped directly to you—clearly labeled and ready to assemble. We provide detailed instructions, technical support, and even offer an on-site advisor if needed.

At DEN, we're always pushing the building envelope (ha ha—I'm also a dad and love bad puns). To help prepare DEN for the launch and support of this product, we've brought on a new head of Prefab. His name is Wes, and with hundreds of homes developed throughout his career, he's absolutely the best man for the job. We can't wait for you to meet him on our next sales call.
