Building a Peaceful Retreat in Northern Wisconsin: Thoughtful Design for Short-Term Rentals

Building a Peaceful Retreat in Northern Wisconsin: Thoughtful Design for Short-Term Rentals

by Nathaniel Taylor

DEN customer Philip H. is doing more than developing a short term rental. He’s creating something with real intent—a retreat designed to offer peace to its visitors and generate income as a short-term rental.

Philip is putting thought into every part of this build. The name of this DEN is Oma Rest: a nod to tradition, but it’s also about what this place will offer: real rest. You can tell this project means something more to him. It’s about creating a space where people can truly unwind.

Finding the right spot wasn’t simple. Philip spent time picking out a piece of land in Iron County, Wisconsin, that really spoke to him. The Outpost design fits the land like a glove, blending in rather than sticking out. Imagine looking out a window and seeing the forest stretch out in front of you, especially when the leaves turn in the fall. That’s the kind of scene that makes the siting of this property so spot-on. See for yourself in a video of Oma Rest’s foundation:

But there’s a practical side too. Oma Rest is an investment. The thoughtful design and strategic location are meant to make this property stand out in a crowded short-term rental market. Travelers are always looking for something different, something memorable, and this place is being built with that in mind. It’s about offering more than a place to sleep; it’s about giving guests an experience they’ll want to talk about.

As for the build itself, it’s been a journey. Sure, there have been challenges—there always are—but Philip isn’t cutting corners. Each decision, from materials to layout, is made with care. The goal is simple: create a place where visitors can relax and recharge, no distractions, no stress. It’s about getting every detail right, not just getting it done.

Philip plans to keep the updates flowing on social media as the project nears completion. It’s a way to share this journey with others, maybe even inspire someone else to start their own project. Soon enough, this retreat in Northern Wisconsin will be ready to welcome guests looking for a peaceful break from their everyday lives.

Oma Rest isn’t just another short term rental project. It’s a mix of thoughtful design and smart siting, creating a place that honors both the land and the guests who will stay there. We are thrilled to work with DEN customers like Philip who embrace thoughtful modern approaches to building short term rentals in gorgeous places.

Stay tuned for more to come. We’ll be sure to share a link to book a stay at Oma Rest when it’s available.
